Video marketing can be complex, which is why it’s important to us that you know exactly what you are getting.

We pride ourselves on our transparency and take the time to ensure you understand exactly what our packages include before beginning any shoot.

Budgeting for different video types can be difficult because no two projects are alike. Our corporate video marketing packages begin at $1000, but this can vary depending on requirements.

Which is why - here at The Film Crew -  we developed our own structure called the 3P’s. This is a simple and clear breakdown of exactly what is involved in creating a video, what materials are available, and any extras you may like to use.

THE 3P's Structure

P1

PRE

‘Pre-production’ or ‘pre’ is the planning stage. We’ll start by working with you to ensure we both have a clear understanding of your content needs, the process and the content output. We’ll then begin scouting for locations, booking any actors, writing scripts and planning the shoot.

The amount of pre-production needed for each video project varies. Often clients choose to do most of this themselves, so it can take as little as an hour of our time to plan the shoot.

P3
POST

The final ‘P’ stands for ‘post-production’ or ‘editing.’ This is where we take all the amazing content we just shot and string or ‘cut’  it all together. We’ll add soundtracks, titles, captions and grade the colours.

As a general rule, for short to medium length videos we require at least two days in the editing suite for each production day.

P2

PROD

Let's film it! -  ‘production’ or ‘prod’ means we are actively filming.  This is the second and most important stage where we capture everything we need to make the video.

Most videos will require more than one camera operator and we operate on a day-rate per each. Our pricing includes all of our equipment kit so there are no hidden costs.

anything
else?

There are a few other things that could be needed for your video, depending on what you wish to make, these could include; actors, music licensing, voice over costs, location costs and travel expenses.

So what went into this video?

A case study for comparison

P1 (pre)

The pre-production time for this video was four hours. This comprised of scripting, voice-overs and actor organisation, prop arrangement, location scouting and booking in the actual filming.

Pre Production cost: $400.00 + GST

The following video is a web commercial we made for a local snow wax brand, SpaceWax. The brief was to make an amusing origin video that also showcased the incredible landscape in and around Wanaka.

Being a start-up their budget wasn't huge - so here's how we maximised their dollar without compromising on quality.

P3 (POST)
P2 (PROD)

By keeping the storyline simple and using a voice-over to drive the narrative we were able to reduce production time to a single day and a single camera operator.

Production cost: $1000.00 + GST

Again, as the narrative was mostly via a voice-over we were able to edit this quickly - spending only one and a half days in the editing suite. This also included colour grading and final delivery.

Post Production cost: $1120.00 + GST

THE 3P's Structure

We want the production process to be as simple and painless as possible - so here at The Film Crew we have developed a structure called the ‘3P’s.’ This is a clear breakdown of exactly what is involved in crafting a video and any extras you may like to use.

ANYTHING ELSE?

Let's tally it up

  • Pre: $400.00

  • Prod: $1000.00

  • Post: $1120.00

  • Other: $800.00

TOTAL: $3320.00 + GST

Extra costs included were:

  • Music Licensing: $200.00

  • Voice Over Recording: $350.00

  • Talent costs: $250.00

Total other costs: $800.00 + GST

TOTAL BUDGET
Views, interaction and reach

Tracking the video across all platforms for the first seven days showed great results promoting the brand and the product in question.

This company had not launched prior to the video, and went from zero reach - to a reach of 20k people in the first week!

Performance in the first 7 days.

REACH: 20,000 ppl

INTERACTION: 45 Shares, 210 Likes

That's only $0.16c per potential customer compared to an average of over $2 on Google advertising!

All that lead to over 180 products sold within 7 days!

How long does it take?

Often people believe video production is a lengthy process. As we move progressively online, this is no longer accurate. This entire SpaceWax video was completed in ten days from initial contact to the final delivered product.

While we do suggest booking as far in advance as possible to ensure availability, the turn-around of a video itself is super quick. In most cases we begin ‘post’ the day following the final ‘prod’ day. For SpaceWax the video was delivered on the third day, with one day of prod, one and a half days of post, then exported and delivered!
