Back in 2012 Managing Director, Joe Murdie was a talented photographer and he needed someone to make a video. He knew high-quality visual content was a key part of a standard marketing strategy. But the process was complicated, the price point too high, and the output underwhelming. So he set out to change that.
Seeing that video content was becoming a key part of standard marketing strategy, he set out to change that – and joined a new-era of agile, conscious business operators striving to create a different way of doing things in the video production industry. Passionate about video and a firm believer in its engagement power, Joe wanted more than just great video – so he developed a business model that partnered simple yet quality visual content creation with a strong strategic purpose at an affordable price to ensure the end products created by The Film Crew offered long lasting value and achieved beyond its objectives.
Joe has since then become an award-winning film maker and has grown the business to include a team of, not-just film makers, who all have the same vision for producing high quality content.

The Film Crew is comprised of a team of talented, passionate film-makers and creatives. Led by Joe & Erin Murdie, the team is a collective of creators, calculated risk-takers, marketers, and people that want the absolute best for your brand.
Our collective love for all things film and photography has seen us working on collaborations with some the top actors, directors & producers New Zealand has to offer, as well as working internationally on a variety of projects. We geekily pride ourselves on being able to tell any story in a captivating way to engage the attention of our audiences.
Founder and Managing Director of The Film Crew, Joe is an international award-winning filmmaker. He is a creative thinking, whisky drinking, Swanndri wearing kinda guy and also our principle cinematographer and editor.
Joe has a long background working on both news & broadcast and TV series. He has worked on a variety of projects including Commercials, foodtv, music videos and corporate video production.
MANAGING DIRECTOR /
Erin is a director of The Film Crew as well as the general manager of sales and marketing. She is also a jack-of-all-trades and will occasionally don a producer hat, or work on set as a continuity manager.
GENERAL MANAGER /
An experienced and award-winning photographer, Stu is well-travelled and was awarded a prestigious distinction by the royal photographic society in 2016. He has also been featured in a number of exclusive expeditions.
Tracey has a wealth of experience as a digital media strategist working with companies in New Zealand and around the world. With a unique skill-set that includes social advertising, digital advertising, hands-on social media management and SEO, she delivers excellent results with a consistent ROI.
With ten years of international experience in film, Emily has worked on a wide range of productions including feature-length films, commercials, documentaries, mini-series, short films and more.
Ben is an experienced designer and web developer and is never far from his screen. He has an eye for complementary fonts, and an instinct for colours. His work enhances the video, keeping the look consistent and dynamic.
